Huaxi Village was founded in 1961. In the past 40 years the overall situation of Huaxi has followed that old saying ?neither too good nor too bad, it is better both politically and economically year after year. When judged by the important ? representation?theory, it is quite well.

    In light with the demand of representing the development of advanced productive forces, we have persistently followed the principles of scientific decision-making, scientific management, and scientific development so as to ensure the coordinating and sustainable development between economy on one side and population growth, resources and environmental protection on the other. Huaxi features a cooperative economy characterized by collective stock holding with individual shares. Huaxi Group Incorporation has been appraised as the first-rate large-scale township enterprise and excellent township enterprise in the country. Currently, it has 8 large-sized companies with 4 billion Yuan of fixed assets. Now they are equipped with the most advanced facilities in the world, producing over 10000 kinds of products in 1000 varieties, including hot tapes, wires and fabrics. They have won worldwide reputation so far. In 1999 Huaxi Village A Stock was listed in Shenzhen stock market, thus becoming the first village listed in stock market in China. In 2003 the sales revenue of Huaxi reached 10.5 billion Yuan and became the first village with over 10 billion Yuan of revenue in China. In 2004 the overall sales revenue exceeded 26 billion Yuan. In 2005 we set our goal at 30 billion.     In regard to representing the forward orientation of advanced culture, Huaxi has evolved its 3 major special cultures: first, the enterprise culture; second, the architectural culture; and third, the tourist culture. Now the village has a 100-meter-high golden tower, a 1000-meter-long dragon, a 10000-meter-long corridor, a 100000-meter-long great wall, Longxi Lake covering 300000 m2, imitated Tian An Men Square, Shanhai Gateway, World Park, Villagers?Park, Tower complex, Bridge Culture and other scenic spots. Since China began the reform and opening programme, Huaxi has received visitors from over 120 countries and regions. At present, about 1 million visitors came here every year. In the past four decades, the comprehensive quality of Huaxi Village has continued to improve steadily. In the past we knew nothing more than wheat and rice and we made sickles only by our hands. Now we can use computer. The village has 25000 employees in all, including 2000 intermediate and senior engineers and technicians of various professions. 28 have senior titles, 50 have intermediate titles and 250 have junior titles in addition to 6 enjoying special subsidy by the State Department. Meanwhile, it boasts a large number of talents respectively good at over 10 foreign languages, including English, Japanese, Spanish, etc. And we have many capable talents who know technology and management. Recently, Huaxi sent nearly 100 young people to learn abroad and over 30 young cadres have studied in CPC School of the central government.

Villagers have 3 income sources. First is the socialist distribution according to one’s own work. The hardworking get more salaries and bonus, reflecting an industrious spirit. The less cash one takes, the more ownership he will has.?Currently each family has a villa with a land ranging from 400 m2 to 600 m2. Each family has savings with assets from 1 million to 10 million. And each family has at least one car. Some even have 3. There are over 500 cars in the village, the overall power totaling 50 horsepower. At the same time, various high-tech and digital home electrical appliances such as digital cameras, vidicons, rear-projection color TV, central air-conditioners and so on are introduced into ordinary families in Huaxi. Each family has at least one member traveling abroad. Every year some villagers, including the newcomers, will travel both at home and abroad.

Although Huaxi becomes rich, it doesn’t forget the country, the group, and the neighboring and less developed areas. Since June 2001 four times of merging act have bought 16 surrounding villages into the scope of Huaxi so as to seek common development. Now, Huaxi’s land has increased from the original 0.96 km2 to the current 30 km2 and its population from 1520 to 3000. Now the Huaxi residents are striving hand in hand to seek prosperity through civilization. Their basic living conditions are ensures, the old and the disabled are properly settled, the residents are industrious, the stocking policy yields exciting melon-cutting ?all leading to a comfortable life. The young people are employed and the old get the retirement pension.
